Notice Anything Different?

Ok...so it's kind of hard to tell in this picture, but I'm wearing earrings for the first time in about 5 years.

I got my ears pierced in high school (I think my prom dress had really cute earrings to match, so at age 18 I finally broke down and got it done).  And I wore earrings for a few years until they got infected.  We were about to leave for Thailand so I decided to let the holes close and not have to deal with it.

Fast forward 5 years and I've thought a few times about re-piercing them, but priced it and decided it wasn't worth the $35 the mall charged.....or having to accessorize (not in my skill set).

Anyway, the other day Hannah got out my little jewelry box that has my 'pearl' earrings from our wedding day....so I decided to see if I could get them in.  It took a few minutes, and a tiny bit of pain, but I was able to re-pierce my holes.  So...I saved $35.....now I just have to buy some earrings.

I totally noticed you were wearing earrings at the park the other day! And by the way, did you post this like while I was at your house? It says it was posted 19 minutes ago, and I'm pretty sure that's when I was there...

Britt,

was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours and started reading. Came to the post about your dd getting out your "pearl earrings" from your jewelry box which you've not worn in years. That reminded me of a similar day when our ODD, Sandi, aged 2, get into my jewelry box too. I was working in the kitchen when dh calls out to me from the family room asking me to come in there. Sandi had gotten a pair of my earrings and was asking dh how to put them in her ears! She almost put one in her ear canal! Dh laughed and told me to take her to have them pierced before we had to take her to the ER to remove an earring! Of course she was wanting to look like mommy so I couldn't be too upset with her :)

I was a bit unsure, but our ped encouraged me to do when mommy could care for them and gave me some suggestions for moms having their dd's ears pierced. I put them away and thought it would be a few years till I needed them.

Fast forward about two months when I started noticing little babies including two in church nursery and another little girl in our playgroup with littl pearl earrings like mine. Like you, I confess I've always loved my pearl earrings too. I finally realized how cute and feminine our little toddlers would look with cute earring and yielded to pressure.

At first, I was only going to pierce our ODD's ears, but the YDD was forcing the issue. What is a mom to do?

Almost in a spur of the moment, I decided to have both girls done and did them with the YDD pierced first while dh walked down the mall with our ODD. Both returned to see her younger sister with earrings. Immediately, she wanted them too. I knew this would provide peer pressure and insure both girl got pierced. Literally, our ODD hopped up in the chair and barely shed a tear.

I followed our ped's tips to find the right person, place to do and both girls did great. Yes, I'm sure you guessed what style of earrings both girls initially got their ears pierced with...yes, tiffany pearls :). I was a sucker for pearls

Dont' know if you've thought about having your dd's ears pierced, but she is wanting to look like mommy with earrings too.

I'd say if you've ever thought about it, then your mommy intuition is telling you to do them now now. Also do consider having both girls done since they your eventually both will be wanting them done too. Both girls help remind me in cleaning their ears during the healing period afterwards.

Promise your girls will look cute too with little earrings in their upcoming holiday pics if you decide to do them now. Write me an e-mail if you'd like our ped's suggestions.
