Blessing Dress

I realize this isn't very exciting for most of you, but I'm pretty happy about it. This is a completed blessing dress.......sewn by me. Yes, it's true. As long as you don't look too close it looks pretty good. :D The only major nuisance was sewing in the sleeves. They are tiny. But, we survived and it's over. Well, almost. I now have to make a slip, but at least the dress is done! Sorry it's a dark picture.

Snowshoeing

Instead of complaining about the snow we actually went out and enjoyed it. James had a day off from work and we decided to go snowshoeing. We literally haven't done this in years, but it was lots of fun. We went up Logan Canyon to the Summit. Here is a picture of me on one of my many pit stops before going to the top.

Once we reached the 'top' there is a great view. You look out and can see Bear Lake. It's especially beautiful when the sun is shinning. This day was kind of overcast, but it's still a pretty good view.

We also found lots of snow drifts. James was really excited, because it's lots of fun to run and jump off of them. I settled for being the cameraman, but it was fun to watch him. I must confess, I'm not a very good camera man because I had a hard time snapping the picture as he was in midair, but this gives you an idea.

I'm still looking forward to spring weather with lots of sunshine, but it was fun to get out and enjoy the snow!

Spring Fever

I believe it's supposed to be Spring. To me, spring means warm weather and green grass. However, when I looked out the window this morning, there is more snow. This is what the weather forecast shows. More snow!! Don't get me wrong, I do like the snow, but it's almost April. I'm ready for SPRING!!!!

It's a Girl!

This past week I had an ultrasound it looks like we're going to be having a baby girl near the end of July. James claims he's nervous about having a girl, but we're both really excited. We're just happy to know that she's healthy and everything seems to be going well. We are going to name her Hannah after a distant relative in Germany that we absolutely love. We haven't come up with a middle name, so we're taking any suggestions. I voted for Banana, but was overruled. :D I've had a few requests for pregnancy pictures. I'm not so sure how I feel about taking a picture of me and my ever expanding waistline. That doesn't sound like much fun, but we'll see.

Mr. and Mrs. Hurst

Congrats to Shelly and Jens! They were married this past weekend. It was lots of fun to be involved in the reception and wedding. It was a beautiful sealing and neat to see them so happy together. Doesn't she look beautiful?

The Grand Canyon. It has been years since any of us had been there, so we decided to make a pit stop on the way home. It added a couple of hours to our trip, but was worth it. The view is amazing. Here's a picture of all of us.

We walked along the rim for a while enjoying the view. James kept wandering off to play on the edge of the rocks. It made me nervous just watching him. Here's him sitting on a ledge.

Home Again

Last week we took off and went to Arizona. We went to enj0y the warmth and spend some time with family down there. We got to meet one niece for the first time and had fun spending time with everyone. Unfortunately a few of us got sick while there, but we've survived and lived to tell about it. We didn't take any pictures while we were there, so there's nothing to post. Sorry. We did, however, stop at the Grand Canyon on the way home and took pictures. I'll post them soon.

Sewing Projects

Ok, so here's a picture of my new sewing machine. It's pretty close to the bottom-end of Berninas because that was what the budget allotted for, but I was really excited about it and I really like it. My first project after getting the machine was to make curtains. So, here is a picture of the finished product. The lighting was bad, but oh well.

This is thrilling, I know. But, I just wanted to show proof that I actually sewed something my mother wasn't too embarrassed to display. :D I want to start another sewing project, but can't think of anything that sounds like much fun. So, if anyone has ideas, I'm all ears. Hopefully I'll have something more exciting to report soon.

Checklists

I haven't posted anything, because nothing really exciting has happened. James has been working and I've been trying to keep myself busy. Some days I accomplish a lot, some days I don't think I get any work done. Here are a few of the very very exciting things I've been up to.

* Got a sewing machine
* Sewed my first item (curtains) with the new machine
* Done lots of cooking and baking. Some has actually turned out well, some not so edible. :D
* Found somewhere to let me volunteer each week. Yay!
* Gone through all of our Thailand pictures.
* Finally got back into the habit of daily exercise.

Now, on to the list of things I want to get done in the next couple of weeks.

* Go to Arizona to feel warm again.
* Scrapbook all of our Thailand pictures.
* Make bedding for our newly purchased crib.
* Get together with our long lost friends.
* Buy a car

A Few of My Favorite Things

We have now been living in the land of milk and honey for almost 3 weeks. It's kind of crazy in lots of ways, but time is flying by. There are a lot of things I love about daily life here and these are just a few.

Laundry is so much quicker with a machine. It's amazing. And, when we use a dryer our clothes actually get dry before turning moldy. Yay!!

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with squat toilets. In fact, the one in our house was just about as good as they come, but I'm a fan of the western version. I don't have to plug my nose every time I enter the bathroom. That's a beautiful thing considering I go in about 25 times a day. (Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration!)

Any who know me very well know that I'm not a good cook, but I absolutely love having an oven and a stove with more than one unit. I actually want to bake and cook because it has been so long since I've had the chance. Plus, the boneless, skinless chicken is amazing!!

We have been eating cereal like crazy. We just can't seem to get enough of it. We love having fresh milk in gallon containers. We go through so much. I'm pretty sure we're making up for our lack of calcium the past couple of years.

It might seem rather lame, but these things are still new and exciting to me. I'm sure that it won't be long before I'm complaining about doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom, cooking, and bored of milk. I know I'll take it for granted, but for now I just smile every time I see them. :D
